age 84, passed away Saturday May 24, 2008 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. He was born September 24, 1923 in the Town of Little Wolf Waupaca County, the youngest of 11 children of the late August and Alvina (Doede) Ernst. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. Alfred grew up on the family farm. During WWII he was employed at 4WD in Clintonville. He later worked at Marion Iron Works until retiring. His hobbies were flying, hunting and fishing. The past 12 years he had been a resident of the Manawa Community Nursing Center. Survivors include a sister: Anna Thomack, Neenah; two sisters-in-law: Joyce Ernst, Neenah; Verna Ernst, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers: Albert, Richard, Rudolph, Eric, Karl and Edwin; three sisters: Margaret Wohlers, Alma Thomack and Gertrude Rasmussen. The funeral service for Alfred will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 29, 2008 at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A special thank you to the staff at the Manawa Community Nursing Center for the wonderful care given to Alvin. All of you were special to him.
