Alvern Albert Ferg

Age 90, of Manawa, went to his heavenly home on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Iola Living Assistance. He was born on February 14, 1921, in the Town of Union, son of the late Albert R. and Emma L. (Kriese) Ferg. Alvern went to Knowledge Hill Grade School and graduated from Little Wolf High School. On April 8, 1953, he was united in marriage to Elaine J. Sturm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. Alvern and Elaine, along with their son Jerry, farmed in the Town of Union for many years, he retired at age 75. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine; 2 daughters: Phyllis (Arnie) Heideman and Lois (Jim) Rupno; grandchildren: Jeremy (Maria) Ferg, Josh Ferg, Joe (Michelle) Ferg, Austin (Tracy) Heideman, Heidi Heideman, Dustin (Mandy) Heideman and Jon Rupno; great-grandchildren: McKenna and Eli Ferg, Madeline Heideman; 2 brothers: Lloyd (Shirley) Ferg and Gordon Ferg. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jerry, sister Loretta (Ron) Herman, his first wife Betty and their infant daughter Faye. The funeral service for Alvern will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in the Town of Union. The visitation for Alvern will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
