Ardella L. Bailey

Ardella Louise Bailey of Manawa, age 90, passed away Friday January 19, 2007 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. She was born November 5, 1916 in Waupaca County, daughter of the late Herman and Alvina (Rucks) Stiebs. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in Manawa and earned her teaching certificate at Stevens Point Teachers College. Although she was a resident of the Manawa area most of her life during WWII she worked in Milwaukee at a military plant. She also taught a time in a one room school. On May 26, 1945 she married Howard Bailey. He preceded her in death January 15, 1983. Ardella was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and a member of the Ladies Aid until becoming a resident at the nursing home. She loved children, her cats and loved to cook. She is survived by her children: Gerald (Joan) Bailey Manawa; Susan (Peter) Christman, Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son James, a great-grandson Brady and four brothers: Alvin, Clarence, Marlin and Leslie. The funeral service for Ardella will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday January 23, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
