Bruene W. Hattermann Jr., age 80, of Fremont passed away Saturday November 25, 2006 at his home. He was born September 29, 1926 in Union Township, O'Brien County, Paullina, Iowa son of the late Bruene and Viola (Appeldorn) Hatterman Sr. He was drafted into the U.S. Army September 19, 1945. After training in Texas he was stationed in Alaska and was discharged December 13, 1946. He returned to Paullina and hired out to work on farms in the area. On February 26, 1950 he married Marlene Ann Mesner, daughter of William & Theresa (Erickson) Mesner. They rented a 320 acre farm near Paullina, IA. Three years later they rented a farm near Chatsworth, IA where they farmed for six years. In 1958 they purchased a farm near Weyauwega, WI where they farmed until retiring and selling the farm in 1975. They bought a cabin on the Wolf River near Orihula, WI. Later they bought a cabin on Partridge Lake near Fremont, sold the Orihula cabin and lived in the Fremont cabin on the lake. In 1978 they bought a home in Hardy, AK and spent the winter months in Arkansas and the summer months in Wisconsin. After retiring he enjoyed sharing God's word at nursing homes and jails in Wisconsin and Arkansas. Bruene is survived by his wife: Marlene; four children: Bruene Lynn (Sandy) Hattermann, Dale, WI; Dean Alan (Julie) Hattermann, New London, Anita Jane (Mike) Tillman, TN; David Lee (Joyce) Hattermann, AK; a brother, Edward (Norma) Hattermann, Paullina, IA; two sisters: Hazel Meyer, IA; Hilda (Eldor) Pauling, AK; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Bruene Fredrick. The funeral service for Bruene W. Hattermann will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 29, 2006 at Victory Church, E3443 Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, WI 54981, with Rev. Philip Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the West Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, IA. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
