Carol F. Neuman, 72, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 20, 1942 to Walter and Lucille (Will) Mecklenburg, and grew up in Fond du Lac. All her life she held strong to her faith in Jesus, and raised her family to do the same. Carol met her husband to be when Merle delivered a new typewriter to the Boy Scout Office where she worked, although she was currently "going steady" with someone else, Merle won her heart over and they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this September. Together they raised three children, John, Sheryl, and Norene, and enjoyed traveling, camping, and family get-togethers. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was what Carol loved most. When they visited, everything else waited and she spent quality time with them. She taught Aliah and Karlie to sew, paint, and do crafts. With Ashley, Alex, Anna, and Aiden she played games, put puzzles together, canned spaghetti sauce, and picked apples and made pies. She spent a lot of time with Emily and Natalie Gisvold, and Kenny Eggler, honorary grandchildren who spent a lot of time with her growing up and all had a special place in her heart. All the grandchildren adored their grandma and every minute they could be with her. Carol also loved her home, her garden, flowers, reading, Rosie the Cat, Abby the dog, and Liberty the canary. She was a loving caretaker and had an appreciation for nature, it was always a battle for Merle to trim or remove trees because Carol loved them so much. Since she was 16, she had worked at flower shops; she made all the floral arrangements for her children's weddings and recently designed the beautiful casket spray for her own mother's funeral last November. Her profession was bookkeeper and over the years she had worked at different places, always keeping the books accurate and making strong friendships with all who knew her. She also was part of the Homemakers club for 45 years and treasurer for HCE. She cared deeply for her country, attended county board meetings and worked every year for the elections. Those days were long and she loved every minute of it. All who knew Carol loved her; she had only kind words and was always concerned about others. She seldom spoke of herself and sacrificed for others and is so admired for her selflessness, kindness, and devotion. Carol is survived by her husband Merle, son John (Michele) Neuman of Weyauwega with grandchildren Aliah and Karlie; daughter Sheryl (Mark) Poirier of Bloomer with grandchildren Ashley, Alex, Anna, and Aiden; and daughter Norene (Corey) Meidl of Weyauwega with granddog Bailey; sisters Gerry (Ken) Walker and Mary (Bruce) Watts; and bother Jim Mecklenburg (Eileen), all of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lucille Mecklenburg, brother Richard, and sister Shirley. The Christian Funeral for Carol will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke and Rev. Newlin Schafer officiating. Burial will be in Lind Center Cemetery, Town of Lind. A visitation for Carol will be held directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who were blessed to know her. Rest in peace our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
