Darleen Joy Gust, age 76, of Weyauwega, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her residence. Darleen was born on September 22, 1941 in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, to the late Paul and Lillian (Willie) Wegener. She was united in marriage to Max Gust on January 27, 1962 in Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 2010. Darleen enjoyed raising her 5 children, baking cooking, making preserves, gardening, doing ceramics, bowling, dart league and playing cards-especially cribbage. She worked at Lakeview Manor about 15 years and as a secretary to a CPA. Her bowling team meant a lot to her-they were such great friends. She was known for her saying, “Lord love a duck!” Darleen was known by many around Weyauwega as the “Peanut Brittle Lady”. She enjoyed making it as long as people ordered some. She loved her toy poodles- Pepper and Cinnamon. Darleen called them her little “Spice Girls”. She also enjoyed playing the piano even though age took a toll on her nimble fingers and eye sight. She loved making homemade bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and pies for her children and whatever else they asked for, especially double cherry cheesecake. The boys loved her pork chops, potato dumplings and sauerkraut-which they always got on their birthdays and so did their father. She really loved fishing with her sons Tim and Greg. Even if the fish weren’t biting, she loved being out there and spending time with them. She loved her grandchildren and was so proud of them. She is survived by her children: Tana House, Tana (Randy) Everts, Greg Gust, Tammy (John) Roberts, Tim (Amy) Gust and Travis (Kelly Jean) Gust; grandchildren: Melissa (Travis) Konrad, Travis (Tasha) Peterson, Leif (Becky) Peterson, Andrew Peterson; Justi (Greg) Kurz, Luke, Joey, Bethany, and Levi Everts; Bodhi Gust; Tony (Karissa) Pellerino, Adam and Audrey Vargas; and Maxwell and Grayson Gust, as well as 14 great-grandkids. She is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband. A memorial service that will celebrate Darleen's life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial fund has been established.<iframe id="tukios_player_512x330" allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/2Y64JHRLMJJZTJ4L" width="512"></iframe>
