david A. Strehlow

Age 58, of Symco, passed away at his home on Thursday afternoon, June 7, 2007, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 8, 1948, in Marion, where he graduated from Marion High school in 1966. After graduation he farmed with his brother Gary for a short time and was a member of St. John's church. In 1967 he moved to Manawa to farm, where he continued on for the next forty years. On June 15, 1968, he was united in marriage to Carla Rae Jaeger of Symco. They had 39 wonderful years together where they enjoyed traveling together, and each others company whenever they had some free time from the farm. David was a director on the farm bureau for the Town of Union, and a longtime member of the Union Thresherman's where he served as the treasurer for many years. He was also a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Symco. David loved his family and grandkids, traveling, farming, and the annual deer hunt with his buddies. David is survived by his wife, Carla, of 39 years; his daughter Aimee (Greg) Mashlan, Hortonville, and their children, Makayla and Brady; his mother-in-law Laraine Schmitter; Manawa; a brother: Gary (Sheryl) Strehlow, Marion; a sister: Darla (Vilas) Kratzke, Hortonville; a sister-in-law: Sharon Stein, Tileda; extended family Brian Guenther, who was like a son to David, Manawa; special friends Herb, Linda and Heather Schwartz, Oshkosh; also many nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Lucille Strehlow, also an infant brother and sister, his father-in-law Leonard Jaeger, his step-father-in-law Ray Schmitter, and brother-in-law Donald Stein. The Christian Funeral for David will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco, with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Symco. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Saturday, June 9, 2007, from 4-9 p.m. and at the church on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank our family and friends for all their support, visits, cards, calls and prayers. A huge thanks to everyone who helped with the farm, made meals, and were there for us in our time of need. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
