Deborah Ellen Batterman of Weyauwega, WI passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2024, en route to ThedaCare Hospital in Neenah, WI at the age of 71. She was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on September 26th, 1952, to parents Eleanore and John Winters.
As a child, Debbie spent the majority of her time with her siblings in various foster homes until she was placed alone with Mert and Faith Arntzen who took her in as a teen and showed her what the love of parents and a family meant, especially when Amy arrived. She graduated from Neenah High School and continued her education in various colleges over the years, all of which ultimately lead to her employment with the Department of Corrections as an Administrative Secretary.
During her first marriage she had two children, Bradley and Michelle. She later married John Batterman with whom she had 3 children, Ashley, Elise, and Stephanie. After the end of her marriage to John she moved to Weyauwega to be closer to her family and friends.
Throughout her life Debbie enjoyed doing things like reading, gardening, and fishing. She had a love of nature which included flowers, butterflies, and horses. In her retirement she enjoyed going to auctions, shaking dice at local establishments, knitting, and talking about her grandchildren and how proud she was of them and their accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her sisters: Rosemary and Bonnie; parents: John and Eleanore; foster-parents: Mert and Faith, as well as two stillborn sons.
She is survived by her brother: John (Ellen) Winters; sisters: Diane (Keith) Wolff, Barb Winters-Messing, Shirley Beasley, and Amy Asibinac; daughters: Michelle Beck, Ashley (Luke Murtha) Batterman, Elise Batterman, Stephanie (Wayne) Gudex; son: Bradley Beck; nine grandchildren - including Staff Sergeant Kelyn Beck, and many other family and friends.
In her memory, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Weyauwega on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm for family and friends to reminisce.
