Age 82, of Manawa passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 5, 2011. He was born Dec 16, 1928 in the Town of Little Wolf, the son of the late Edward and Julia (Franclemont) Carew. Don was a loving husband, a very caring Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. Don had always loved to help people. He was always looking for ways to help someone, whether family, neighbor, friends, or complete strangers. Farming was his life and he loved doing it. He couldn't wait to plant his crops in the spring, or bale hay in the summer. He drove school bus for 50 years and served on the town and county boards. He was fire chief and town chairman for Royalton. Don was united in marriage to Rita Simonis on Oct 19, 1953. They were blessed with six children. Dave (Jennifer) Carew of Green Bay, Salli (Brian) Bunno of Appleton, Mary (Brian) Whitemarsh of Hudson, Ruth (Dan) Boerst of Manawa, Joan (Tim) Sweet of Brookfield , Sandy (Robin) Dunnihoo of Manawa. He is a further survived by 21 grandchildren; Veronica, Robert, Sabrina and Lorelei Carew. Jenna, Josh, Jake, Michael, and Nicole Bunno. Chris, Brian II (Katie) and Matt Whitemarsh. Sarah (Grady), Dustin (Michelle), and Adam Boerst. Caity, Alyx and Nate Sweet. Danielle (Dan), Jeremy (Jenna), and Kassie Dunnihoo. 3 great grandchildren Leighton Dunnihoo, Griffin Auer and Sawyer Kundinger. He is further survived by a brother Gordon(Millie) Carew, and sisters-in-law Rebecca and Barbara Carew. Nephews Tom, Jim, Bill, Pat and Paul Carew and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Jerry and Theresa Simonis, 2 brothers John and Mike Carew, sister-in-law Virginia Carew, grandson Nicholas Bunno, and nephew John Carew. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa with Father Brian Belongia presiding. Friends will be received on Monday, March 7 at Cline Hanson Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa from 4-7 p.m., and again at the church on Tuesday at 9 AM until the time of the service.
