Age 89, of Manawa passed away Friday April 3, 2009 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. Dorothy was born September 9, 1919 in Waupaca County, daughter of the late Henry and Henrietta (Gehrke) Roland. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in Manawa in 1936 and attended Oshkosh Business College. Dorothy worked as a secretary to the Waupaca County Agricultural Agent for four years at which time she accepted a job as secretary-treasurer for the Production Credit Association in Waupaca and Appleton. She married Donald Casey on June 6, 1942 and later was a bookkeeper for the Symco and Riverside Feed Mills. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and of the Ladies Aid Society. She served as a past volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, Flu Clinic, Church Newsletter, Sturm Memorial Library and Waupaca County Immunization Program. Dorothy is survived by three children: Daniel and special friend Shirley Lewicki, Manawa; Colleen (Ronald) Hein, Poy Sippi; Jane (Michael) Marcy, New London; seven grandchildren: Kent (Kristina) Casey; Karie (Ronald) Hale; Aaron Hein and fiancé Carrie Klick; Andrew Hein; Adam (Amanda) Hein; Nathan Marcy; Peter Marcy; a great-granddaughter: Grace Hale; two great-grandsons: Nicholas Casey and Henry Hale; two sisters-in-law: Gladys Roland and Sandra Roland, two nieces, three nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son John, and four brothers: Herman, Erwin, Robert and Richard Roland; two sisters-in-law: Marlene and Una Roland. Respecting her wishes there will be no visitation or service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco, Wisconsin. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
