Age 85, of Manawa passed away Thursday October 23, 2008 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. She was born March 13, 1923 in the Town of St. Lawrence daughter of the late Otto and Clara (Specht) Schmidt. On June 20, 1942 she married Walter W. Janke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa where she taught Sunday school. She also taught Sunday School at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the DAV Auxilary. Dorothy loved playing the organ. She is survived by her husband: Walter; two daughters: Virginia (Jerry) Olsen, Phoenix, AZ; Nancy (James) Wilken, Bear Creek; two sons: Michael (Dorothy) Janke and William Janke all of Bear Creek; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a sister: Leona (Harold) Werth, Bear Creek; two sisters-in-law: Elenora Jaeger, Clintonville; Jean Warmbrunn, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 step brothers. The funeral service for Dorothy will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday October 27, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco. Relatives and friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Special thanks to the staff at the Manawa Community Nursing Center, your kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Paul Lutheran School.
