Dorothy’s Funeral Service

Dorothy Marie Chich, age 94, of Weyauwega, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Azura Memory Care in Oshkosh. She was born in the town of Lanark, Portage County on November 15, 1926, daughter of the late Karl and Martha (Lucht) Kussman. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1944. On November 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to LaVerne Chich at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. Dorothy attended Oshkosh Business College and then came to Weyauwega and worked at Nestles for six months before going to the Weyauwega Co-Op where she worked from 1946-1980. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega and cherished her time in daily devotions with the Lord. Dorothy loved hunting, fishing, knitting, woodworking, snowmobiling and motorcycling. Although she had no children of her own, she loved and spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews.

Aunt Dorothy is survived by nieces and nephews: Carole (Butch) Ponto, Roy Kussman, Keith Kussman, David (Lenore) Peterson, Wayne (Julie) Peterson, Gene (Caroline) Peterson, Larry Peterson, Sharon (Tony) Kurszewski, Karen (Roger) Wojtalewicz; 19 great nieces and nephews; 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a niece, a nephew, a brother and sister-in-law and a sister and brother-in-law.

Dorothy’s Christian funeral will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11am at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Aaron Kristopeit officiating. A visitation will be held from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. For those who plan to attend, please wear a mask and observe social distancing.
