Dorothy R. Zander

Dorothy Ruth Zander, age 95, went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 24, 2023. She was born on July 23, 1928 in West Bloomfield, WI to the late Louis and Lydia Bauer. Dorothy graduated from New London high school in 1946. She then worked at the Edison and AAL. On August 12, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage with Evan L. Zander. He preceded her in death in 1997. Dorothy was able to be a stay-at-home mom to daughters Darla and Cheryl. She waitressed at the Steakhouse and worked at Baylake Bank in Manawa for 25 years before retiring in 1994.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining family and friends, decorating doll cakes and crocheting and knitting. Dorothy and Evan's love of travel took them to Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean, Canadian Rockies, and all over the United States.

Dorothy is survived by her 2 daughters: Darla (Mike) Carroll, Hortonville; Cheryl (Wayne) Heiman, Manawa. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Kendi (Erica) Linjer Geschrel, Neenah; Shane Linjer, Iola; Nathaniel Carroll, Winneconne; Ryan Carroll, Hortonville; 8 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Tyler and Riley Geschrel; Evan and Grayson Linjer; and Charlie, Louie, and Millie Carroll.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband: Evan "Scotty" Zander; grandson: Brandon Linjer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lyell and Eris Ferg (Zander); and stepfather Phillip Neidert.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco. The funeral service for Dorothy will be held there on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 11:00 am with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
