Duane Norris Gilbertson

Duane (Gib') N. Gilbertson, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Riverside Hospital in Waupaca with his children by his side. Gib was born February 16, 1929 in Oshkosh, WI, son of the late Odie and Gladys (Waite) Gilbertson. His family moved to Weyauwega in 1932. Gib graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1947. He served in the U. S. Army at Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, DC from September 1948 to December 1949. In 1950, Gib married the late Loraine Koehler. They had four children. They later divorced. In 1963, he married Dorothy Hecker. Gib was a salesman and spent the majority of his professional sales years at Wiesman Motors in Weyauwega. Gib enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada. He was a member and former president of the Weyauwega-Fremont Lions Club. Gib is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: Barb (Norm) Harris, Bonduel; Dave (Nancy) Gilbertson, Appleton, Cindy Preuss (Judi Kiefer), Weyauwega; and a stepson Gary (Sandy) Hecker, Weyauwega. His grandchildren Tracy (Patrick) Lyons; Chad (Rachel) Grambsch; Carly Rhodes; Erin (Jason) Wait, Michael Kiefer, Rebecca (David) Kuchenbecker, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters: Elaine (Gilbert) Hofacker, California; Joyce (Merlyn) Prahl, Weyauwega, sister-in-law, Margie Gilbertson, Weyauwega, brother-in-law Kenneth (Betty) Haire, Weyauwega and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Judy Gilbertson, brother, Nathan Gilbertson, and a sister, Janet Kriese. Funeral services for Gib will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega with Pastor Rich Engle officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
