Of Ogdensburg, age 72, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2006, at the Manawa Nursing Center following a brief illness. Eddie was born on November 5, 1933 in Saxeville, son of the late William & Mertle (Evans) Schmidt. Eddie was united in marriage on August 14, 1954 to Lucille Elkins at Sheridon Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Eddie was employed at Speed Queen in Omro until he was drafted into the service from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. After the service, he worked at Mink Ranch located in Cary, Illinois for six years, then relocated to Ogdensburg and was employed at Hillshire Farms in New London for a number of years, and then at Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King for twenty two years. Eddie was last employed with Tomorrow Valley Co-op driving truck. Eddie's hobbies were riding his Harley, hobby farming, and he enjoyed visiting with the local farmers. He is survived by his wife Lucille; 2 daughters: Marsha (Melvin) Hansen, New London; Gail Burlingham and Terry Boutwell, Ogdensburg; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric) Daggett, Appleton; Shannon Hansen, New London; Blaine Hansen and girlfriend Casey, New London; Kortney Burlingham, Ogdensburg; Landon Burlingham, Ogdensburg; a great-granddaughter Alayna Daggett. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. His parents, and eight siblings preceded him in death. The memorial service for Eddie that will celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
