Ethel M. Doede

Ethel Margaret Doede, age 97, died peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega. She was born September 1, 1920 in the Town of Mukwa; daughter of the late Rhine and Lizzie Schroeder. Ethel married Hubert R. Doede on April 21, 1946 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Her husband, her daughter Donna (Doede) McClelland, and all her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Ethel worked 15 years at the Fairway Store in Weyauwega and later worked at Taylor Cheese until she retired at age 62. She will be fondly remembered as an energetic, independent woman that loved bowling, rummage sales, telling stories of her family growing up, canning, freezing, and cooking up some delicious holiday meals. In later years, she enjoyed going to play BINGO, needlework, and spending time with her girl friends playing cards. Survivors in her immediate family include her son-in-law, Vernon (Bev) McClelland; 3 grandchildren, Kathryn (David) Rodriguez, Ann (Brad) Cullen and Jonathan (Mihcal) McClellend; 7 great-grandchildren, Collin Jorgensen, Lauren Jorgensen, Tyson Templer, Milo Rodriguez, Callie Cullen, Kristen Cullen, and Jacob McClelland and 7 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service for Ethel will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Rev. Dennis Lemke will be officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service directly at the church.
