Gary A Bonikowske, age 81, passed away peacefully at his family home on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Gary was born on October 19, 1941 to Alfred and Alice Bonikowske. He was the oldest of three children and lived on the family farm until his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Lola Mae Jossie on June 3, 1962. They built their dream house which they still reside at and provided a loving home to their three children. Gary and Lola loved spending cherished time with family and friends on their deck while enjoying the views and sounds of nature.
Gary worked for 42 years at Neenah Foundry. Although the drive was long, he was a dedicated employee and served in many roles during his tenure, finishing his career as the supervisor of the shipping department.
Gary loved to fish and hunt taking numerous trips with very special family and friends. He loved to reminisce about those big ones, even if they got away! Gary and Lola enjoyed many vacations together, visiting Mexico, Canada, Bahama's and many trips "Out West". They took a special trip with each of their children and their families showing them all the sights and creating many memorable moments with each of them.
Gary loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would do anything for them and attended many of their sporting events, programs and parties. He always had a sparkle in his eye whenever he talked about his family.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lola, and his children: Debra (Mark) Hass, Michael (Jenny) Bonikowske, and Lisa (Ryan) Phillips. He is further survived by all his favorite grandchildren: Danielle Bonikowske, Whitney (Dylan) Christian, Adam (Beth) Bonikowske, Courtney (Ryan) Smits, Tyler Hass, Drew Phillips, and Alexis Phillips. His heart was always full when he saw his great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Ayla, Madelyn, Reece and Daxton. Gary is also survied by his siblings: Judy Much and Dennis (Sandy) Bonikowske, and a brother-in-law: Buzz Jossie.
A memorial service for Gary will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church: E6073 County Road C, Marion, WI 54950, with Rev. Karen Riemer officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for the New Fellowship Hall.
