Gene A. Starchaska, age 88 of Manawa, died unexpectedly while fishing with his son in Minnesota on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Gene was born on July 17, 1933, son of the late Max and Eva (Delo) Starchaska. Gene graduated from Little Wolf High School and on June 5, 1953, he married Beulah Hoppe. They shared 59 special years together. Gene worked at the National Farmer’s Organization in DePere for 30 years. He loved fishing and working with cattle. He was a “farm boy” at heart. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Ogdensburg.
Gene is survived by his son: Bruce Starchaska; cousin: John (Mary) Starchaska, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; an infant daughter; siblings: Arnie (Nellie) Starchaska, Melvin (Lillian) Starchaska, Dorothy (Leonard) Henning, Mary (Carl) Roland, and Norman (Beatrice) Starchaska.
A memorial service for Gene will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 700 Main St., Ogdensburg, with Rev. Mary Bope officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf.
