Geneva M. Freiman

April 1, 1932 — April 16, 2008

age 76, of Fremont, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in rural Weyauwega, on April 1, 1932 the ninth and youngest child of the late Henry and Mathilda (Uhl) Laabs. In 1961, she married Alex Freiman. Nevie worked in a variety of jobs throughout her life, retiring from Churny Company in Weyauwega in 1994. After retirement, she worked part-time for the public library in Fremont for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. She enjoyed bowling and dart leagues; reading, trips to the casino with her friend Lloyd, crafts, cross stitching, and especially crocheting. Her family and friends, upon whom she bestowed many of her handmade "gifts from the heart", were always appreciative of the handiwork she so freely shared. She was never at a family event without a camera. She is survived by her best friend and sister, Viola "Olie" Kneip of Weyauwega; sisters: Ruth Missall, Berlin; Luella "Lula" Larson, Las Vegas, NV; Margaret "Maggie" Hogan, Key Largo, FL; her "adopted" family, her nephew Charles "Charlie" (Karen) Beaman Jr., North Fond du Lac and their children and grandchildren: Becky (Mike) Kinser, Quinn and Megan, Menasha; Charles "Chip" (Amy) Beaman III, Eli and Ezra, Darboy; Rachel (Jon) Hughes, Haddie, Lucy, and Violet, Fond du Lac. Nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews: Gary (Jean) Laabs, Neenah and family; Jean (Les) Ponto and family, Greenville; Nancy (John) Boyce, Appleton and family; Pat (Christ) Brogaard, Waupaca and family; Susie (Larry) Albright, Poy Sippi and family; Bob (Jean) Missall, St. Charles, IL and family; Kathy (Don) Demke, Colorado; Judith Harriman and family, Las Vegas, NV. She is further survived by her long-time special and loyal friends, Margaret Ross, Lloyd Stillmann and Marlene Jorgensen, as well as many other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister: Melvin "Buster", Alan "Bud", and LaRoy "Roy" Laabs, Irene Beaman; sister and brothers-in-law, LaValle Laabs, Ken Larson, William Kneip Sr., Harvey Missall, Charles Beaman Sr., and Hap Hogan. She was also preceded in death by a special nephew, William "Billy" Kneip Jr., and a nephew Richard Missall. Memorials in her name may be designated to St. Peter Lutheran Church or to the ThedaCare Hospice Team. The family would like to extend a special thank you to doctors, nurses, and staff of the 3rd Floor Collaborative Care Unit at Appleton Medical Center, ThedaCare Hospice; as well as the loving and caring staff of the Weyauwega Health Care Center and the devoted Pastors at St. Peter Lutheran Church for all their prayers and visits. The Christian Funeral for Geneva will be on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke and Rev. Robbin Robbert officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Fremont. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
