Glendore Walker

On March 21, 1923 when the snow bound roads were impassable, the Doctor arrived with horse and sleigh 8.5 miles from Clintonville to the Erick and Lena (Herman) Miller farm to deliver their daughter Glendore Evelyn Miller. On Tuesday, November 29, 2022 Glendore took her final trip home at the age of 99. She passed away peacefully at Trinity Terrace, New London after a fall the previous day.

Glendore was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Symco, WI. Her marriage took place to her beloved Chancy Walker of Sugar Bush, WI on June 18, 1944 and they enjoyed 61 years of wedded bliss until his death in 2005.

In her early years, she walked to the one-room Marble School, where she learned her ABC's and completed her Elementary education, and in 1941 she graduated from Clintonville High school. That same year, she was crowned Wisconsin's Dairy Queen.

Glendore was true to family and friends and was active in 4-H where she followed the adage "To Make the Best Better" and led many young members in Foods & Nutrition, and ChildCare. She and Minerva Jepson, the Waupaca County Home Extension Agent, founded Marble H.C.E. Homemakers, and for over 65 years Glendore was active in the club. She also loved flowers and shared that passion with other members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church as part of the altar flower committee. Her love of learning and artistic nature was also apparent with the many crafts she experimented with through the years. In addition to serving many a meal to farm hands, family and friends, she assisted Chancy in later years in his career in real estate, auctioneering and manufacturing.

Glendore and Chancy loved to travel and their trips included New Zealand, Australia, China, Hawaii, Alaska, Caribbean, Mexico, Switzerland, and Germany. For 15 years, winters were spent in the warmth of the sun in their Jupiter, FL home away from home. In 1991 they moved to Bear Lake, where she enjoyed beautiful sunsets, watching the boaters and jumping fish, and feeding the many birds who befriended her on her patio porch.

Glendore was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Chancy had 4 children: Waunita (Ron) Radke, Weylin (Nancy) Walker, Julie (Jeff) Wurth, and Cathy (Gus) Golden. 11 grandchildren include: Tyler (Stacy), Jennifer (Jerry) Smith, Travis, and Jolene (Justin) Jaramillo, Michelle (Joe) Ferg, Shane (Jameane) Walker, Tiffany (Luke) Hass, Jenna (Jeremy) Dunnihoo, Amber, Heather (significant other Wayne Walker), and Lindsey Golden (significant other Alex Drabes), and 14 great-grandchildren: Allie & Brennan Radke, Max and Lily Jaramillo, Bracyn, Rohan and Ivy Hass, Leighton, Cashton and Dekker Dunnihoo, McKenna & Eli Ferg, Brody Gillis and Lawton Maresh. She is further survived by loving nieces and nephews and cousins and her faithful grand-dog Archie.

In addition to her parents, Glendore was proceeded in death by her husband, Chancy Walker, brother Carlton (Shirley) Miller, Chancy's six siblings and their spouses and special cousin Evelyn (Charles) Dawson.

Special thanks to the staff (angels on earth) at Trinity Terrace, New London and to Pro-Medica Hospice for their care of Glendore and guidance to the family.

Everlasting Good Wishes Mom and Grandma Glendore - surely you are passing out cookies to all in Heaven.
