Wausau, formerly of Manawa, age 93, passed away at Wausau Manor Monday January 29, 2007. She was born February 9, 1913 in Manawa, daughter of the late Andrew C. and Lillian (Allen ) Walch. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in Manawa in 1930. She went to Lawrence University in Appleton and received her BM in 1934. She also attended UW Stevens Point. Honor taught English and vocal music at Iola, Bear Creek and Manawa. She was also a private piano instructor for many years. She was an active member of the Manawa United Methodist Church serving as financial secretary, Sunday school superintendent, lay leader, lay speaker and choir director. She was a member of the Priscilla Circle, the United Methodist Women, the Administrative Council and Bible Study Class. She was a member of the Manawa Order of the Eastern Star and past Matron, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Waupaca County and State Retired Teachers Organizations. She served as president of the Sturm Library Board in Manawa for many years. Honor married Myron Testin in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1953. She married Gordon Brown in 1978. He preceded her in death in 1985. Survivors include a son: William (Beverly) Testin, Manitowish Waters; a step-daughter: Gwen (Ken) Plamann, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Betty Walch, Wisconsin Dells; Eleanor Testin, Wild Rose; other relatives and many friends and former students. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters: Enid (Walch) Cuff and Mary (Walch) Fallon; three brothers: Pete, Bruce and Jim Walch. The funeral service for Honor will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 1, 2007 at the Manawa United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Eggert officiating. Burial will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. Relatives and friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
