Irene Strey

Irene Florence Strey of Weyauwega, age 88, passed away Wednesday December 20, 2006 at her home. She was born August 23, 1918 in Pine River, Waushara County daughter of the late Frank and Segin (Rasmussen) Jameson. Irene graduated from Red Granite High School and attended Wautoma Normal School 2 years. She taught school for 6 years, 3 years in Waushara County and 3 years in Winnebago County. She married Marvin Strey in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death January 8, 1976. Her husband was a cheese maker owning several cheese factories and purchased Weyauwega Star Dairy in 1946. Irene helped her husband in the operation of the cheese factories selling Weyauwega Star Dairy in 1980. She was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. As a hobby, Irene and her husband collected antique cars. Survivors include a nephew: Terry (Judy) Godson, Red Granite; a sister-in-law: Stella Baehman, Fremont; special friends: John and Tara Gunderson, Weyauwega, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dorothy and Nellie. The funeral service for Irene will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 23, 2006 at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
