Age 86, Brewster Village, Appleton, died on August 25, 2008, with his family by his side. Earl was born on November 9, 1921, in the Town of Union to Albert and Roside (Schewe) Jahsman. Earl served in the Army during World War II from 1940 to 1945 seeing action in the Pacific Theater. He married Hazel Flater on August 31, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church, Manawa. During his life, Earl worked at the Badger Globe Paper, Neenah; owned and operated Friendly Café in Manawa with his wife Hazel; was employed for many years by the City of Manawa, and was in partnership in the construction business. Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf during his life. He was a longtime member of the finance committee for St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manawa. He served on the Manawa Fire Department for ten years, was elected an Alderman for the City of Manawa, and was appointed to the Police and Fire Commission. Earl was a member of the CCC, most recently with Chapter 54 of Waupaca. Earl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel, Appleton; two daughters, Helen (Robert) Lorenzen, Wautoma, Gloria (Ted) Stinski, Neenah; a son, Douglas (Kim) Jahsman, Appleton; a brother, Allen (Lorraine) Jahsman, Manawa, three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Geraldine Jahsman, and brother, Laverne Jahsman. The funeral service for Earl will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 11 am, at St Paul Lutheran Church, Manawa, with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be at Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9 am until the time of service. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Brewster Village for their care of Earl.
