Kimberly A. Hofstetter

September 21, 1963 — September 1, 2024

Kimberly (Kym) Ann Hofstetter (née Hackner) died on September 1, 2024, at age 60 after battling cancer. Kym was born on September 24, 1963, to Sandy (née Theriault) and William (Bill) Hackner. She grew up in Brookfield and went to Brookfield Central High School. She married Glen Hanke and had two daughters Annette and Theresa. They divorced and she married Randall (Randy) Hofstetter on November 3, 1984 and had Trevor a few years later. They lived in Brookfield until 2001 where they then moved to Fremont. Kym continued to be a mother and homemaker, planning their forever home that was built on a gorgeous piece of land in Royalton, moving there in 2017.

Kym was a wonderful homemaker and cook, having many signature dishes that will be deeply missed. She could grill almost anything (including making a cake) but her smoked ribs and riblets were especially remarkable. She was not much of a baker but baked chocolate eclairs for special occasions that were nothing short of incredible. Her presence in the kitchen was unmatched, she was a force to be reckoned with.

Kym enjoyed spending time up north in Adams County at their cabin. After over 30 years of having the property, Kym has spent countless hours enjoying nature with her family, hunting and homemaking. While living in Brookfield, Kym worked at the YMCA Camp Minikani in the Equestrian center caring for the horses which was a passion of hers. More recently, she co-ran a Wisconsin licensed Raccoon Rescue Program with her husband Randy and was very passionate about her animals. The time and dedication spent to ensuring her dogs, cat and raccoons were happy, healthy and loved was paramount.

She also loved gardening and flowers, planting each spring and having bountiful produce in the fall. Her potted plants and soring sunflowers cover the patio and surround the house during the summer months. She also had a passion for crafting, often creating beautiful centerpieces for the kitchen island. During the holidays, she would make wreaths, snowmen and other Christmas decorations using wood and pinecones, always creating something beautiful.

A dedicated wife and mother, Kym will be deeply missed by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Randy; daughters: Annette (Brian) Gottschal and Theresa (Kyle) McNulty; son, Trevor (Nicole) Hofstetter; grandsons: Ben, Jacob and Jesse; mother, Sandy (Gary) Grundman; brother, William (BJ) Hackner. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, sisters-in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Hackner and sister, Corrinna Lauderbach.

A Celebration of Life gathering may be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Randy for their Racoon Rescue Program.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the cancer centers at Theda Care in Appleton and Waupaca who took such good care of Kym during her illness. She knew most of you by name and had the utmost respect and gratitude for the help and care that was provided. You will always hold a special place to us for the time and dedication spent helping Kym battle her illness.
