Age 79, of Appleton, was called into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on March 8, 1930 to the late Alvin and Laura (Kapitzke) Ebert in the Town of Royalton. He graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1947. Ebie proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. At his brother's wedding in 1961, he met his future wife, Louise Pope, and they married on August 17, 1963. They enjoyed 45 wonderful years doing some traveling enjoying their trips to Alaska the most. He was a sales agent with New York Life from 1962 to 2008. He enjoyed every day of his job as he so enjoyed visiting with people. He met and made many wonderful friends through the years. He was a long time member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. Ebie was a member of the Appleton Noon Lion's Club, having been a member for over 50 years, being honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship, Birch Sturm Fellowship and Knight of Sight Fellow. He was an active member of the Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation, American Legion Post # 38 and VFW Post #2778. He enjoyed many Canadian fishing trips and especially enjoyed fishing on the Wolf River. Fall always brought around the hunting season. He enjoyed going many years up north at the cabin and several trips out west for Elk hunting. The sheepshead playing was a favorite pastime, playing several times a week with different groups. Survivors include his wife Louise; a daughter: Marsha (Loren) Fischer, Appleton, and their children Alexandria, Amanda and Adrienne; sons: Todd (Lori) Ebert, Appleton, and their children Kendra and Kyle; Greg (Melissa) Ebert, Portland, Oregon, and their children Alexander and Bennet. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life. They will have to carry on his passion for the Packers and Brewers. He is also survived by his sister Doris Huffcutt, Waupaca; a brother: Marlyn (Lorraine) Ebert, Weyauwega; also surviving are Louise's brothers: Bill (Kathy) Pope, Andover, New Jersey; Fred (Pat) Pope, Westminster, Colorado and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Alex and Olga Pope, a brother-in-law Ivan Huffcutt and a nephew Rick Huffcutt. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Lions Foundation-Lion's Pride, or any charity of your choice. The Christian Funeral for Ebie will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton with Rev. Robert F. Raasch officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful staff at Appleton Medical Center, especially Lori, Tony and Cory. Many thanks to Dr. Heyerdahl for the wonderful care through the years.
