Age 91, of Manawa, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center with her family by her side. She was born on September 17, 1917 in Ripon, daughter of the late Albert and Verna (Hanptman) Sasada. On June 25, 1955, she married Herbert Handrich at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manawa. He preceded her in death in 2001. Loretta worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Milwaukee for 5 years, then 5 years at Gimbal's Department Store. She was employed at Fura's Market in Manawa for 18 years, and at the Hortonville Toy Factory for 5 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid. She was a Red Cross Recruiter for the Bear Lake area for many years. Loretta also volunteered at the nutrition center and the Manawa Community Nursing Center and received one of the awards for the Outstanding Senior Citizen in Waupaca County for her volunteer service in 2007. She enjoyed playing dart ball for over 25 years. She is survived by her children: Jim (Karen) Rill, Debbie (Mark) Passehl and Joy Rill; grandchildren: Brian Rill, Mike (Erin) Rill, Jackie, David and Scott Quimby, Kristen Passehl and Jason Passehl; great-grandchildren: Amanda, Tyler, Dylan, Cassidy, Joey, Masen, Madison, Chancellor and one great-great- grandchild Ashland; sisters-in-law: Florence Sasada and Mary Harp. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Janis, 2 brothers and an infant sister. The funeral service for Loretta will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. A very special thank you to Pastor Wally Waite, the staff at the Manawa Community Nursing Center, Dr. Steven Goedderz, and the Manawa Ambulance Service, for their loving and compassionate care of Loretta. The family would also like to thank friends and relatives for their care and kindnesses shown Loretta.
