Louise E. Kunkel

November 26, 1928 — March 14, 2007

Age 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Manawa Community Nursing Center following a brief illness. She was born on November 26, 1928 in Wausau, daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Stubbe) Goebel. On September 18, 1948, she married Leonard B. Kunkel in Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1996. They lived in Wausau, Thorpe, Wisconsin Rapids, and Hancock before moving to Manawa in 1971. They owned and operated the IGA Store in Manawa from 1971-1973. She was then employed by Ron & Lloyd's Grocery Store in Waupaca as the produce manager where she worked until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and an active member of the Ladies Aide, the women's quilting group, and the bible study group. She worked at Rawhide of New London for their monthly auctions, and volunteered to work at the polls for elections. She enjoyed playing cards at the Manawa Senior Center. She was an avid bowler. She and her husband Leonard participated in a couple's league and she was a regular member of the Ladies Thursday Night League in Manawa. She is survived by two daughters: Lisa (Edwin) Pynenberg, Manawa; Sara (Steven) Wilcox, Scandinavia; two sons: Jeffrey (Patricia) Ellendale, MN; Dale (Karen) Bolingbrook, IL; 10 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Verna (Charles) Schuette, Wausau; a brother: Richard (Betty) Goebel, St. Paul, MN; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son Keith. The funeral service for Louise will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
