Melvin W. Marquardt

Age 83, of New London, formerly of Manawa, died on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on April 7, 1924 in Manawa, son of the late Louis & Emma (Lemke) Marquardt. On August 16, 1969 he married Ruth Gehrke at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. Melvin worked for the Green Bay & Western Railroad for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. He is survived by his wife Ruth; a step-son: Dennis (Malou) Handrich, Weyauwega; a step-daughter: Sally (Sheldon) Otto, California; 5 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; a brother: Leland (Carol) Marquardt, Appleton. He is further survived by a brother-in-law: Paul (Marie) Gehrke, Manawa, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Howard. The funeral service for Melvin will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Blaine Niskanen and Rev. Bil Sutlief officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
