Neil E. Rasmussen, age 89 from Weyauwega, always lived his life by setting the example. He believed first in a strong faith in God. Second, in hard work and determination. This together with a loving family provided everything he needed in life. With his family by his side, he passed away at home to join his son, Wally, in heaven on Monday, August 28, 2023.
He was born May 21, 1934, in the Township of Black Wolf, son of the late Frank Rasmussen and Emma Rasmussen Buch. As a young man, he enjoyed roller skating. His moves on the rink were enough to impress MaryAnn Kuenzi, who he later wed on August 13, 1955. Their 68 years of marriage were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
His time was spent serving his church and community. He worked for the City of Waupaca for 21 years as the street Superintendent. Neil also served as an Assistant Fire Chief for the Waupaca Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. He spent his last 22 years in the work force at the Waupaca Foundry, retiring in 1996. After he retired, he stayed busy working at Sue's Upholstery, his daughter's shop. Neil was a devout member of St Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega, serving his Lord holding many different offices over the years in the church. Other organizations he was active in include White Lake Preservation Association, 4-H, Iola Car Show, Waupaca County Fair, Visiting Elders, the Lutheran Dart League and the Senior Dart League.
Neil is survived by his wife of 68 years, MaryAnn; his daughters: Sue Rasmussen, Nancy Rasmussen and Victoria (Randy) Hillskotter; his sister, Joyce Resop; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Neil was preceded in death by his son, Walter (Wally) Rasmussen; his father, Frank Rasmussen and mother, Emma Buch; his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Susannah Kuenzi; his brother, Everett J. Rasmussen and many other beloved family and friends.
Faith is not asking God to stop a storm, but to trust in God to help you through the storm.
Thank you to Pastor Kristopeit and Mr. Benjamin Ristow for their visits; and to everyone for all for the prayers, cards and visits. The family would also like to thank the ThedaCare Hospice team for all of their help.
