Nicholas P. Nowak

August 9, 1980 — November 18, 2024

Nicholas Paul Nowak, age 44 of Winneconne, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born in Appleton on August 9, 1980. Nick was baptized and confirmed at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville and attended the parish grade school. He graduated from Hortonville High School in 1999 where he was active in various sports. He then went on to UW-Madison where he earned his bachelor's degree and was instrumental in establishing a new committee for the Republican party where he was a dedicated member of the debate team. During his time in Madison as a proud Badger alumni, he met the love of his life, Lynsey Esser, and they were married on August 3, 2018.

Nick was a beloved son, grandson, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle and friend. He was blessed with a strong academic ability. Nick was also skilled in the kitchen and might have missed his calling as a master chef. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Wisconsin Badgers, painting, camping, and had a very strong passion for debate. Nick will probably be remembered most for his love of other people. Ever since he was a little boy, he made friends everywhere he went. He sincerely enjoyed being with people and they gravitated to him due to his larger than life personality. From his early years rounding up the neighborhood boys for some silly shenanigans, to his high school peers crowning him homecoming king, to UW-Madison where he and his college buddies lived and breathed Badger football, Nick had such a strong passion for life and for other people. He had a special way of connecting with his little nephews and nieces and took a sincere interest in them. He was heartfelt and didn't hesitate to tell his loved ones how he felt about them and how much he loved them.

Nick, you had a genuine love for other people and you were the truest friend we could have ever had. You left this world far too soon. We love you and we miss you! Until we meet again, may God grant you eternal peace and a place in his heavenly kingdom!

He is survived by his wife, Lynsey; parents: Teri (Tom) Verhasselt, and Rick (Helen) Nowak; siblings: Brian (Kara) Nowak and their children Everett, Callum, and Dane; Chris (Natasha) Nowak and their children Vincent, Jazelle, Marcella, Joseph, and Rockwell; Ben (Kayla) Nowak and their daughter Addison; Michelle (Stevie) Pingel and their children Bentley, Parker, and Jaxton; paternal grandmother, Romelle Nowak. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Art Nowak, and his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Geraldine Mickelson.

The Funeral Mass for Nick will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11:00am at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating.
