Pearl passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Iola Living Assistance. She was born on March 12, 1916 in Weyauwega, daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Beckman) Hintz She was confirmed on August 30, 1931 in Readfield.. She married Joseph Kostrzak on June 15, 1940. They lived and farmed in Waupaca County near Symco for 45 years until they retired and moved to Manawa in October of 1986. Pearl was a homemaker and loved to play cards, sew and make quilts, and crack hickory nuts and pick them out. Her favorite granddaughter Bonnie would go fishing and always give her a lot of fish to eat. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. She is survived by one son Joe (Patty) Kostrzak; a daughter Bette (Bob) Osterling; 5 grandchildren: Tim Kostrzak, Todd (Lisa) Kostrzak, Lori (Kris) Eick, Brian (Sheri) Lettau and Bonnie Lettau and friend Tom Standforth; 7 great-grandchildren: Maverick Kostrzak, Will Lettau, Gavin Lettau, Steven Ebel, Kipp Kostrzak, Kendra Kostrzak and Kira Kostrzak. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Joseph, who died on February 14, 1988, a grandson Tim Kostrzak, two brothers and nine sisters. The funeral service for Pearl will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
