Raymond Lee Breier, age 79, of the township of Helvetia, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 15, 2024. Ray was born on September 16, 1944 in Iola, the youngest of 3 children born to the late Walter and Dorothea (Knopp) Breier. Ray was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Manawa.
Ray was united in marriage to Sandy Schultz on Feb. 12, 1966. Together they continued the Breier family tradition of farming until his retirement. Ray adored anything related to hunting and fishing, including passing on his wealth of knowledge to his grandsons. He enjoyed going out west hunting with friends for a total of 18 years, harvesting many trophy deer. He had a love of the land, whether it be field work while farming, riding around the land on his UTV, or watering the corn in the garden in his later years. He enjoyed many years as a member of the Union Thresheree, and Manawa Archery Club.
Ray is survived by his wife Sandy; his daughters: Barbara (Todd) Flees, Annette Breier, and Marie Murphy; grandchildren: Jessica (Dustin) Miller, Tyler (Shannon) Schuelke, William Murphy, Jason Breier, and JoAnn Breier; step-grandchildren: Joshua Flees, and Chelsie (Matt) Vlietstra; great-grandchildren: Ayden Miller, Asher Miller, Raelynn Flees, and James Schuelke. He is further survived by his sister: Donna (Lee) Oppor; sister-in-law: Vernadine Breier, as well as other family and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: JoAnn Breier; brother: Glen Breier.
A memorial service for Ray will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa, with Pastor Nate Reichle officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Little Creek Cemetery at a later date.
Our family wishes to thank the staff at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville, Theda Care Hospice and Pastor Nathan Reichle for the compassionate care given to Ray during his final months.
