Ruth Preuss

age 89, of Manawa passed away Sunday November 5, 2006 at her home. She was born March 13, 1917 in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County daughter of the late Charlie and Ella (Kretschmer) Sprenger. She grew up on the family farm and attended Lake Michael School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church by Rev. Martin Ehmke. As a young girl she did house work in Big Falls, New London and Menasha. On April 13, 1935 she married Paul Preuss. For four and a half years they lived and farmed on a small farm in the Town of Dupont until the barn burned. They moved to the family farm in the Town of Union where they continued to live. Paul preceded her in death September 10 1980. Ruth stayed living on the farm doing gardening, baking, embroidering and quilting. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco. Survivors include her children: Shirley Lewicki and special friend Dan Casey, Manawa; Gerald Preuss, Iola and special friend Joey Rulsch; Mary Jane ( Junior ) Rineck, Menasha.; five grandchildren: Michele (Bruce) Warnke, Madison; Mark (Jeanne) Klemm, Wausau; Lance (Diane) Preuss, Pueblo, CO; Jeff ( Terri) Lewicki, Little Chute; Jennifer Lewicki, Weyauwega and special friend Russ Schimmer; eight great grandchildren: Cora Warnke, Jace and Jessa Klemm, Samantha and Madison Preuss, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Lewicki, Zachary Schimmer; a sister: Carol Gretzinger, Marion; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter, Melvin and Bill Sprenger and a sister: Ruby Wendt. The funeral service for Ruth will be held Wednesday November 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. Relatives and friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund for St. Mark Lutheran Church is being established. The Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa is assisting the family.
