Sally Lynn Behnke, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 22, 2024. She was known to us by many names: Mama Sally, Silly-Sal, Salamander...just to list off a few. She was born August 27, 1970, to Gary and Marlene Behnke.
Throughout her life she held a variety of jobs; however, the most precious job she held was motherhood. Being a mother was everything to her due to her naturally loving and caring nature. She had one daughter, April, whom she made sure to tell she loved every day.
Sally's heart was big. She was sure to share the love and joy within her heart to all. She also held an uplifting sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Sally inspired so many to stay true to the humorous side of life. Love, Humor, and Family are what she valued most. What made Sally unique was her ability to be selfless and to make you feel like the priority and provide you with comfort. She always held everyone's emotions above her own and provided great peace and comfort to all who knew her.
One of her many talents included art. She was an avid painter. When mailing letters or cards, she would rarely send a blank envelope. She was always mindful of loading up the cards with stickers or little drawings of her own design. When winter came around, she enjoyed making snow sculptures, expressing her creativity.
Sally showed people how to love and laugh. One of the biggest life lessons she taught was to always put your family and loved ones first and hold them close. Take the time for them because you never know how much time is left.
Mama Sally leaves behind her mother, Marlene Behnke; daughter, April (Andrew) Gneist; brother, Tom (Ameleah) Behnke; nephews: Sam Behnke, Luke (Brianna) Behnke, Ben Behnke; niece, Sarah Behnke; great nephew, Elliot Behnke. She also leaves behind many other loving relatives from the Behnke and Stephany side.
As Sally joins her father, Gary Behnke (better known as "Big G") in heaven, know that they are watching over all of us and beaming with pride. If your shirt gets caught in the door, you stub your toe in the middle of the night, or misplace your keys while in a hurry, take a moment to smile and know that in some way those little stinkers are in cahoots reminding you that they're still with us. It's ok to laugh and be at peace knowing that they're just trying to brighten your day and make you smile.
A Celebration of Life for Mama Sally will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 12:00 - 4:00pm with a ceremony to be held at 12:30pm at the Hidden Waters Golf Course in Waupaca.
April and Andrew extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to everyone who has supported them through Sally's passing. Thank you to not only Sally's family, but to Andrew's side of the family, countless friends, former classmates of Sally's and the community members as well. God Bless You.
