Age 82, of Manawa, died on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Emerald Valley Assisted Living in Appleton. She was born on November 2, 1927, in Stevens Point, daughter of the late Bert and Ida (Berberg) Van Order. She was united in marriage to Harry Schaefer in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 22, 1975. Thelma was a long time waitress and co-owner of Schaefer's Steak House and the Manawa Hotel for over 21 years. Thelma was an avid golfer and bowler. She is survived by her husband, Harry; 3 sons: Niel Jurgella, Pine River; Randy (Leslie) Jurgella, Westminster, CO.; Jeff Jurgella, Menasha; 3 grandchildren: Shawn Thiel, Jamie Jurgella and Coren Jurgella and 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph "Bud" Van Order, Sterling, KY. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Van Order and a sister, Adeline Matkey. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Thelma's life will take place on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa. Donations may be made to Emerald Valley Assisted Living Alzheimer's Walk. A special thank you to the staff at Emerald Valley Assisted Living for the care and concern they showed Thelma during her stay there.
