Vernon D. Much

Vernon D. Much, age 83, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at St. Joseph's Residence-Monarch Meadows in New London. He was born in Manawa on April 18, 1940, son of the late Fred and Alma (Krueger) Much. After graduating from high school, Vernon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. On August 6, 1966, he married Phyllis Pagel. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2006. Vernon loved working on his farm milking cows, working the fields, fixing and maintaining his equipment and buildings. He also enjoyed attending auctions, hunting, fishing, and visiting the local watering holes to catch up on the latest neighborhood gossip.

He is survived by his son: Victor D. (Sheila) Much, Ogdensburg; granddaughter: Kayla Kay (Adam) Vraa, New London; great grandsons: Karver and Vander Vraa, New London; siblings: Ray (Judy) Much, Manawa; Audrey Rohde, Clintonville; sister-in-law: Judy Much, Marion; brother-in-law: Ron Pagel, Tomahawk; other cousins, relatives and friends.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter: Maverick Kaylynn Vraa; mother and father-in-law: Fred and Bernice Pagel; siblings: infant brother Eugene, Gene Much, Bill Much, Severna Roe; brothers-in-law: Allen Pagel, Gary Pagel and Greg Rohde; sisters-in-law: Sandy Pagel, Louise Pagel and Barb Pagel; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

The Funeral Service for Vernon will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Manawa with Rev. Ronald Nyhouse officiating. Burial will be in Big Falls Cemetery. A visitation for Vernon will be held at the Life Celebration Center on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
