Age 94, of Weyauwega, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the New London Family Medical center. She was born on May 24, 1917 in the Town of Bloomfield, daughter of the late Eldor and Eleonore (Stroschein) Baker. On February 7, 1937 she married Marlyn Buchholz. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1973. On July 16, 1980 she married Floyd Schmidt. He preceded her in death in 1989. Viola farmed for many years with her husband Marlyn and also drove school bus for over 25 years for the Weyauwega-Fremont School District. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. She is survived by a son: Nathan (Mary) Buchholz, Venice, FL; three daughters: Joan (Ronald) Engels, Pelican Lake; Janet (William) Field, Chelsea, VT; Shirley (Steven) Sternberg, New London; seven grandchildren: Avery Buchholz, Kyle Buchholz, Ryan Engels, Michelle (Joshua) Eberly, Nicholas (Tiffany) Lehman, Curtis (special friend Hanna) Lehman, Addison (Frances) Field, Carrieanna (Matt) Wax- Krell Field, William Field; six great-grandchildren: Liam Eberly, Grayson Eberly, Lena Field, Aurelia Field, Ethan Lehman, Ariston Lehman. She was expecting two more great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her special companion Francis Douglas, Weyauwega. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a son-in-law Jerry Lehman on February 21, 1997. The Christian Funeral for Viola will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke and Rev. Robbin Robbert officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church School Building Fund.
