Age 78, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center. Viona was born on June 27, 1928 in Waushara County daughter of the late Clarence and Linda (Zabel) Buchholtz. Viona graduated from 8th grade in 1942, she started High School in the fall of 1942 completing her sophomore year. She worked in Appleton at AAL until 1953. On May 18, 1952, she was united in marriage to Don D. Buchholz at Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind. Viona started High School again in 1971, and was a 1973 graduate of Weyauwega-Fremont High School. She then attended Fox Valley Technical College and graduated as a LPN in 1974. Viona was an active member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church. She was a member and officer of the Ladies Aid. She served as secretary and treasure of AAL Branch 31, now Thrivent. Viona was a member of Extension Homemakers (HCE) for 50 years and held many offices at the county and local levels. She worked at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca for 25 years. She served as the Town of Weyauwega treasurer for 4 years. She was an active volunteer at the Weyauwega-Fremont Nutrition Center (meals on wheels) for 7 years. Through out her life she was a devoted housewife, mother and farmer. She is survived by her husband Don; her children: Kristine Marable, Tempe, AZ; Tom (Chris) Buchholz, Parker, CO; Judy (Charles) Chathas, Frankfort, IL. Her grandchildren: Jennifer Brittany, Jimmy, Megan, Caitlin, David, Kevin and Emily. Great grandchildren: Farrah, Cyrus and Dylon. Sisters: Bernice (Maynard) Knapp, Hortonville and Carol (Robert) Magdanz, Pine River. Three brother's in-law Jerome Klug, Apache Junction, AZ; La Verne Hertzfeldt, Dale and Bob Merril. She is preceded in death by two sister's Marcella and Marjorie and a sister in-law Barbara. Funeral services for Viona will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 11:00a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Robbin Robbert and Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9:00a.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established for St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund.
