Walter F. Dean

age 86, of Weyauwega passed away January 15, 2008 in Arizona after a short illness, surrounded by his family. Walter was born May 12, 1921 in Royalton, WI son of the late Francis and Clara Dean. He graduated from Manawa High School in 1939. Walter married Harriett Nienhaus June 15, 1946. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Weyauwega and had been a member of the choir. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad in Fremont, Waupaca and Weyauwega as a Depot Agent for 35 years. He also was the City Administrator as well as former Mayor and Council Member for the City of Weyauwega. Walter was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Beja Shriner. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and a long time member of Weymont Run Country Club. Walter and Harriett have spent the last 25 years wintering in Arizona. They provided the Waha Hotel as a convenient location for their children to come and visit a warm climate. Walter enjoyed woodworking, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife: Harriett; his children: Tom (Arlene) Dean, Weyauwega; Michael Dean, Pattaya, Thailand; John (Tukta) Dean , Madison; Peter Dean, Weyauwega; Mary (Randy) Novak, Algoma; Lori (John) Glynn, New London; his grandchildren: Michelle, Tara, Abby, Travis, Lindsey, Melissa and Alison along with extended family member: Abu (Atonia) Kamara and family; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service is being planned for Saturday May 10, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Weyauwega. In lieu of flowers, gestures of concern may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Weymont Run Country Club. The Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega is assisting the family.
